Can the Lions Defeat the Saints in the Postseason?
Maybe the Detroit Lions just are unlucky when it comes to scheduling. First, they ended their regular season by facing Super Bowl champs the Green Bay Packers, who also have the league’s best record. Then they follow that up by drawing the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the NFL Playoffs.
The January 7, 2012, Lions vs Saints game will be the second meeting of the two teams this season. New Orleans won the previous meeting in New Orleans 31-17. This is likely part of the reason New Orleans is listed as the 10.5 point favorite to beat Detroit this week. The other is that the Saints are on a roll.
Detroit has been weak this year against better quality opponents, going 1-5 against playoff teams (only beating the Broncos). Their offense has the potential to be formindable, and so it will be up to their defense to keep them in this game. If Suh is going to make amends for his two-game suspension, this is the game.
